Melvin G. Pfeifer, Sr.

Melvin G. Pfeifer Sr., 91 of Amherst, New Hampshire died peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on September 23rd of natural causes. He resided in Amherst, NH since 1967. Mr. Pfeifer was born January 8, 1928 to parents, Oscar and Alma Pfeifer of Elmhurst, Illinois. His brothers, Eugene, Raymond and Richard are all deceased. Attending Wabash College, Ohio State University and graduating from Marquette University, he earned his degree in mechanical engineering. Upon graduation, Mr. Pfeifer was employed at various large corporations; General Electric, Vickers and Sanders Associates. He founded, owned and ran Modern Technology Corporation until his retirement in 2016. He was married in Schenectady, NY to Julia Lenane until her death in 1988. They were predeceased by two children at childbirth and their son Paul in 2004. He was 49 years old. Mr. Pfeifer is survived by a daughter, Julie Nardozzi and her husband Tom of Manchester, NH, Tim Pfeifer and his wife Danna of Washougal, WA, David Pfeifer and his wife Ann of Nashua, NH, Melvin Pfeifer of Manchester, NH and Andrew Pfeifer of Manchester, NH, Trisha Burpee, a step daughter of Muscat, Oman, along with two granddaughters, Robyn and MacKenzie Pfeifer of Washougal, WA, several nieces and nephews. Mr. Pfeifer remarried in 1995 to Judy Moore of Amherst, NH. until her death in 2017. Mr. Pfeifer was an avid athlete, having played football and other sports throughout his high school and college years. He was an accomplished golfer and racquetball player. He was an active participant in St. Patrick Church, where he taught CCD, formed the CYO sports program and served the parish in various capacities. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and Boy Scouts of America. Calling hours will be held on Monday, September 30th from 9AM to 11AM in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12 noon at St Patrick Church, 34 Amherst Street, Milford, NH.
