Mary E. Bock

Mary Edith (Munson) Bock, 71, of Greenville, NH, passed away on December 21st, 2022, after a sudden health emergency and month long stay at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, NH.

Mary was born in Brockport, NY on May 9th, 1951, the eldest child of the late John Bradt Munson and Eleanor Jeanette (Bettys) Munson. At age 14, the family moved to Ridgewood, NJ where she graduated high school. After traveling around the country several times with her friends in a full-sized school bus they painted silver and purple and converted into a "hippie RV", she settled in the Denver area for several years before moving to southern New Hampshire. She is survived by her three siblings, Margaret Ann Viglione, Virginia Louise Masters, and John Byron Munson.

Mary loved animals, and as a child she and her family owned virtually every kind of pet, from hamsters, guinea pigs, mice, gerbils and rabbits, to snakes, turtles, and lizards, dogs, cats, birds and even a capuchin monkey. As a young adult living in Denver she also owned a horse. But she was especially fond of cats, and over her lifetime she owned, loved and cared for many, many of them in a manner that reflected her deep-rooted kindness and compassion for all living things.

If you love cats and can’t be with your own at home during the day, what do you do? You work at the Milford Veterinary Hospital, which she did for the last 17 years, providing tender loving care to the cats brought in by their clients for medical procedures or boarding. In her free time, she was an advocate for feral cats and managed the care and feeding of local feral cat colonies and organized feral cat trap/neuter/return for many cats in the area.

For those wishing to pay their respects, calling hours will be at Smith and Heald Funeral home on Wednesday January 4th 2023, from 5:00 -7:00 pm, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH. A short remembrance will be given near the end.
