Marjorie N. Thomas

Marjorie N. “Penny” Thomas, 73, resident of Boscawen, NH, died May 30, 2010 at Merrimack County Nursing Home in Boscawen. She was born in Milford, NH on November 22, 1936, a daughter of the late Orion and Marjorie (Bills) Patten. Mrs. Thomas was raised and educated in Milford. She graduated from Milford High School, Class of 1955 and resided in New Hampshire all of her life. She had been employed as a Certified Nurses Assistant for many years having worked at the Hillsborough County Nursing Home and as a private duty nurse. In addition, she loved to cook and had owned and operated Penny’s Restaurant in Weare, NH. Mrs. Thomas enjoyed crocheting and solving crossword puzzles. She was predeceased by a daughter, Victoria; a son, Dale; and her former husband, Horace E. Thomas, Sr. Family members include three sons, Judson E. Thomas of Franklin, NH, Horace E. Thomas, Jr. of Andover, NH and Benton E. Thomas of Hillsborough, NH; a daughter, Marjorie Tucker of Franklin, NH; five grandchildren; Judson E. Thomas, Jr. of VA, Dana Thomas of Milford, Joshua Tucker and Samantha Tucker, both of Salisbury, NH, Nicholas Thomas of Andover, NH; one great grandson, Noah Thomas of Milford; six sisters, Freda Patten of Sterling, MA, Evelyn Smith of Shirley, MA, Mona Tuttle of Bedford, VA, Shirley Rafter of Wilton, NH, Ruth Kelly of Andover, NH and Eva DeSouza of East Bridgewater, MA; five brothers, Freeman Patten of Merrimack, NH, Carl Patten of Enfield, NH, Harold Patten of Hardwick, VT, Edward Patten of Claude, TX and Roland Patten of Peterborough, NH; many nieces and nephews. There are no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 3rd at 11:00 am in Meadowview Cemetery, Foundry Street, Amherst, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Merrimack County Nursing Home Recreational Fund, 325 D.W. Highway, Boscawen, NH 03303.
