Margaret M. Levey

Margaret M. Levey, 94, resident of Milford, NH, died on February 26, 2013 at Ledgewood Bay Assisted Living in Milford. She was born in Albany, New York on April 12, 1918, a daughter of John J. and Mary (Grimes) Haggerty. Raised and educated in Albany, NY, she graduated from The College of St. Rose, Class of 1939, Albany, NY. Mrs. Levey taught elementary school for more than 30 years in the City of Albany. She gave piano lessons for many years in her Lenox Avenue home. Mrs. Levey loved opera, ballet and music - especially classical music; countless wonderful hours were spent at Saratoga Performing Arts Center and in concert halls in New York City. She was an avid letter and note writer; she resisted her children’s attempts to get her to use a computer and email preferring good old fashioned pen and paper. Mrs. Levey was very proud of her Irish Catholic heritage. She was a graceful, kind and dignified woman who had the ability to find the good in everyone and everything she came in contact with. She relocated to New Hampshire and had lived in the Milford and Amherst area for more than 10 years. She was a communicant of St. Patrick Church, Milford. Mrs. Levey was predeceased by her husband, John C. Levey; two brothers, John J. Haggerty and Robert F. Haggerty; and a sister, Rosemary Gentry. Family members include a son and daughter-in-law, John C. and Mary Lou Levey of Dallas, TX; two daughters and a son-in-law, Anne and Patrick McNallen of Amherst, NH, Susan M. Levey of Princeton, NJ; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews. There are no calling hours. A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, March 9th at 12:00 noon in St. Patrick Church, 34 Amherst Street, Milford. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Rensselaer, NY at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Share Outreach, Inc., 1 Columbus Avenue, Milford, NH 03055.
