Mabel C. Hereford

Mabel C. Hereford, 83, lifelong resident of Milford, NH, died May 5, 2010 at Crestwood Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Milford. She was born in Milford on July 22, 1926, a daughter of the late Leland A. and Emerline (Hutchinson) Parkhurst. Mabel was raised and educated in Milford, graduating from Milford High School, Class of 1944. She had been employed as a bookkeeper in the automotive industry for over 41 years having worked for W.J. Neverett Garage, Andy’s Motor Service, Milford Ford and Downtown Lincoln Mercury. In her earlier years, she had worked for the War Department in the Adjutant General Office, Washington, DC for several years and later in the circulation department at the Nashua Telegraph. Mrs. Hereford was a member of the First Congregational Church of Milford, UCC since 1938, a member of Custos Morum Rebekah Lodge #24, Harley Sanford Post #4368 VFW Auxiliary and Ricciardi Hartshorn Post #23 American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed her retirement playing bingo, knitting and reading. She was predeceased by a sister and brother-in-law, Stella “Dolly” and Chester Bailey. Family members include her son, Leland A. Hereford of Milford; a nephew, Thomas C. Bailey and his wife, Roseann of Hudson, NH and a great nephew, Chadd P. Bailey of Allston, MA. Her family wishes to thank the staff at Crestwood Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center for their kindness and care. Visiting hours are Saturday, May 8th from 10:00-11:30 am in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford. Funeral services will follow at 11:30 am.
