Lura I. (Holt) Keddy Seavey, 97, resident of Milford, NH, died on July 14, 2013 at Crestwood Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Milford. She was born on March 23, 1916 in Lyndeborough, NH, a daughter of the late Jason and Ruby (Melendy) Holt. Mrs. Seavey was a graduate of Wilton High School, Class of 1933 and Hesser Business College, Class of 1935, Manchester. After graduation, she worked as secretary to the Langdell Lumber Company for five years, and during World War II returned to work for the Town of Milford in various administrative capacities for forty years. Mrs. Seavey retired in 1981 as executive secretary to the Board of Selectmen. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Milford, UCC, the Women’s League, an honorary member of the Historical Society, and her former Neighborhood Mooreland Club. After retirement she had more time to enjoy her home, family and friends. She loved to do needlepoint and counted cross-stitch. In addition, she was an avid Red Sox fan. She was predeceased by her first husband, John H. Keddy who was killed in World War II in France in 1944, and her second husband of 47 years, Robert H. Seavey who died in 2003, her son, Richard J. Keddy and a great-grandson, Ashton Keddy. Mrs. Seavey is survived by a daughter-in-law, Nancy R. Keddy Topinka of North Port, FL; a step-daughter, Virginia A. Rood and her husband, Elmer C. Rood of Milford; two grandsons, John R. Keddy and his wife, Tracy of Columbus, GA, Jason R. Keddy and his wife, Sandra of Hanover, NH; two great grandsons, Andrew M. Keddy and Dylan Keddy; four step-grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; two step great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. There are no visiting hours. A private memorial service will be held in the Chapel at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Parish Visitor Fund, c/o First Congregational Church of Milford, UCC, 10 Union Street, P.O. Box 188, Milford, NH 03055.
