Louis G. Rougeau

Louis G. Rougeau, 90, resident of Mont Vernon, NH died on February 5, 2013 at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, NH surrounded by his loving family. He was born in North Adams, MA on May 28, 1922, a son of Louis A. and Eva (Elliman) Rougeau. Mr. Rougeau resided in Mont Vernon for the past seven years and formerly made his home in Milford for more than 40 years. He spent his career as a State Trooper with the New Hampshire State Police and retired as a Lieutenant after 25 years of service. In addition, he was a founder and past president of the Blue Knights Motorcycle Club. Mr. Rougeau was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed fishing, hunting and snowmobiling. A member of the Greatest Generation, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He served with the Marine Detachment aboard the U.S.S. Alabama in the European-African and Asiatic-Pacific Theatres where he participated in numerous battles. He was a drill instructor at Parris Island and in 1945, was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant. Mr. Rougeau was predeceased by a brother, Donald Rougeau and a sister, Lorraine Lamoureaux. Family members include his wife of 61 years, Frances (Jernberg) Rougeau of Mont Vernon, NH; a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and John Albert of Mont Vernon; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Steven and Kathie Rougeau, John Rougeau, all of Milford; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Gary Tatro of North Adams, MA; a sister-in-law, Gloria Rougeau of North Adams, MA; several nieces and nephews. There are no visiting hours. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Day Away Program, c/o St. John Neumann Church, 708 Milford Road, Route 101A, Merrimack, NH 03054.
