Lorraine G. Lorden

On January 13, 1927 Lorraine Gloria entered this world with the biggest blue eyes that sparkled with delight and a touch of innocent mischief. Born in the Bronx, NY to Henry and Agnes LaMontagne, she was the youngest of three. As a child she loved practicing her tap dance routines on a homemade stage fashioned by her father out of a piece of plywood. A very animated child, Lorraine honed her theatrics and sang and danced on Broadway. As a young woman she worked in the Nations Capitol during WWII until she met Kenny who became her treasured husband. Kenny, along with his two brothers Francis and Freddie, owned and operated Lorden Lumber while Lorraine fulfilled her lifelong desire becoming a mother to Denny, Sharon, Gayle, Tommy, Kathleen, Janet and Kenny. Her children were the greatest source of her happiness. She was the most generous hearted mother that loved her children fiercely. Lorraine was a voracious reader and developed a smart talent for writing, completing her own novel. She also loved to both play and watch golf, was a rigorous backgammon opponent and was an avid fan of the NE Patriots and Red Sox. She was extremely independent and had an insatiable passion for travel, which allowed her to tour the world and experience all different landscapes and cultures. Her adventurous side carried up into her senior years, even going no hands/arms up in her late 70s on her favorite amusement ride the pirate ship an example of how she lived life with such spirit and vigor. Lorraine spent winters in Marco Island, FL and summered in Milford, NH with her family. The last two years she enjoyed her life with Gayle and Ken Wade in their home in Durham, NH, which she referred to as “Heaven on Earth.” She took the greatest journey of all her travels on August 26, 2015, this time her passport was stamped HEAVEN upon her arrival. Her beloved son Denny and husband Kenneth Lorden predeceased her. Lorraine is survived by Sharon Sbaraglia; two children Shawn Gorea and Stacy (Mike) Baker, Gayle and Ken Wade; four children Kimberly, Jamie, Kyle and Abbie, Tommy Lorden; two daughters Leah (Brian) Donnell and Beth (Jared) Trayer, Kathleen Lorden, Janet and Rick DeIaco; three sons Miles, Jake (Vicky) and Taylor, Kenny Jr. and Dawn Lorden; two sons Dennis and Noah. She also leaves behind six great grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Fred Lorden; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Lorden; many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Monday, August 31st from 4:00-7:00 p.m. in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church, 34 Amherst Street, Milford, NH. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Milford, NH.
