Loretta Aveni, 103, of Milford, NH died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on January 6, 2022. Born on April 11, 1918 in Woonsocket, RI, a daughter of the late Aime and Nelida (Lamarque) Gros-Louis. She was a widow of the late Louie Aveni to whom she was married to for over 67 years. Loretta worked for many years at the Cabinet Press. She was an avid bridge player; sang for over 50 years as a member of the St. Patrick’s church choir. She was active in the catholic women’s club, the former Moreland Club and was a founding member of the Milford Pumpkin Festival. Loretta volunteered countless hours at Share and other organizations for many years. Loretta and her husband Louie enjoyed traveling to warmer climates in the winter months. She enjoyed watching her favorite sports; golf, tennis, Boston Red Sox, the Celtics and cheered on the UCONN Husky girls’ basketball team. In addition to her parents, Loretta was predeceased by her loving husband, Louie Aveni, her daughter, Patricia Ann in 1944, infant son, Robert in 1951 and most recently her son, Ronald in 2018. Survivors include her sister, Irene Smith of Wilton, NH, her son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Celine Aveni of Milford and Leesburg, FL, her daughter, Susan Connor of Brandford, CT, two granddaughters; Christine Francoeur and her husband Marc of Hooksett, NH, Tess and Wes Rollins of Bennington, NH, her grandson, Benjamin and his wife Nadia Connor of Brandford, CT and step grandson, Sean Connor and his wife Su of Woodstock Valley, CT, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. SERVICES: In accordance with her wish’s there will be no calling hours. A funeral mass will be held for family members only on Friday, January 14, 2022 at 11:00 AM. The funeral mass will be live streamed on the SMITH & HEALD FUNERAL HOME FACEBOOK PAGE for all to view and be a part of. In the spring, Loretta will be laid to rest in the St. Patrick Cemetery in Amherst, NH. A celebration of her life will be held, date and time to be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Loretta to the Share Program, 1 Columbus Ave, Milford, NH 03055 or to Home Health and Hospice Care, 7 Executive Drive Merrimack, NH 03054.
