Leonora Clarke Shubert, 88, resident of Amherst, NH, died on October 21, 2017 at her home. She was born in Jamaica, NY on September 12, 1929, a daughter of Arthur W. and Eleanor C. (Hine) Renander. She was a 1951 Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the College of William & Mary. Lee Shubert made her home in Amherst, NH and Bedford, NH for the past 16 years, having resided in Guilford, CT for many years before that. She was a longtime member of the Historical Society of Early American Decoration (HSEAD) and had served in a number of capacities including a two term board member and meeting chairman. Additionally, she was a dedicated decorative artist, a voracious reader and an avid bridge player. Lee was a member of the Church of Our Savior and its Women’s Group, a former member of Christ Church, Guilford, CT and had been active in church altar guilds for many years. She was predeceased by her husband, Allan E. Shubert Jr., who died in 2002 and her grandson, Blake A. Shubert, who died in 2008. She will be greatly missed by her family members including her daughter and son-in-law with whom she made her home, Diane S. and Peter Christman of Amherst, NH; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Mark A. and Susan Shubert of Dowell, MD and Steven B. Shubert of Toronto, Ontario, Canada; three grandchildren, Jeffrey A. Shubert and his wife Rachel, Katherine C. Christman and Anne E. Christman; and a brother, Arthur W. Renander, Jr. There are no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held on November 3, 2017 at 10:00am at the Church of Our Savior, 10 Amherst Street, Milford, NH. Burial will be private in Milford, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to your local Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the PLUS Company, Inc., 19 Chestnut Street, Nashua, NH 03060.
