Rev. Mr. Leo D. Brennan, 81, resident of Amherst, NH, died May 14, 2008 at Brigham & Womens Hospital, Boston, MA.� He was born in Portsmouth, NH on January 27, 1927, a son of the late C. Leo & Harriet Brennan.� Mr. Brennan graduated from St. Patricks Parochial School, attended Portsmouth High School and after returning from the service, graduated from Dover High School.� He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, as an electricians mate, on sub chasers.� Mr. Brennan attended MacIntosh College, The American Theater Wing in New York City, New York State University in Farmingdale, Nassau College, NY, University of Connecticut and St. Leos College in Florida.� He enjoyed working in community theatre workshops.� Mr. Brennan was employed by Nabisco in New York, holding the positions of Divisional and National Sales Managers, retiring in 1989, after 38 years.� He was an avid golfer and a member at the East Lake Woodlands Country Club in Palm Harbor, FL.� He was a resident of New Port Richey, Florida for 20 years, moving back to Amherst, NH in 2002.� Mr. Brennan was ordained a permanent Catholic Deacon in June 1991, for the Diocese of St. Petersburg, FL.� He greatly enjoyed preaching, teaching bible study, visiting those in need at hospital and nursing homes.� He also had the privilege of performing the wedding ceremony for one of his daughters, baptizing and celebrating the sacraments of First Communion and Confirmation for many of his grandchildren.� Deacon Brennan assisted at the Parishes of Our Lady Queen of Peace and St. Thomas Aquinas in New Port Richey, Florida, also at the Blessed Sacrament in Clermont, FL, relocating later to St. Patricks Parish in Milford, NH where he had been a member of the Knights of Columbus #3035 since 1957.� He was predeceased by a brother, Norman Rogers.� Family members include his wife of 57 years, Dorothy J. (Kenny) Brennan of Amherst, NH; six children, Dennis J. Brennan of Manchester, NH, Nancy Lee Matheson of Reading, MA, M. Scott Brennan of Merrimack, NH, John F. Brennan of Easton, CT, Mary Beth Ward of Manahawkin, NJ and Tracey A. Gerlander of Orlando, FL; and 12 Grandchildren. Calling hours are Sunday, May 18th from 1:00-5:00 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH.� A concelebrated mass of Christian burial will be on Monday at 9:00 am in St. Patricks Church, 34 Amherst Street, Milford.� A graveside service will follow at 1:00 pm in Calvary Cemetery, Portsmouth, NH.
