Laura W. Robinson, 68, resident of Amherst, NH, died November 30, 2013 at the Community Hospice House, Merrimack, NH, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Kansas City, MO on June 14, 1945, a daughter of Robert N. and Ella P. (Hennessy) Wathen and was raised in the Louisville, KY area. She graduated from Endicott College, Beverly, MA and earned her teaching degree from the University of Kentucky. Mrs. Robinson made her home in Amherst since 1978 and formerly lived in Acton, MA and Lynnfield, MA. She enjoyed arts, crafts, gardening, loved to play bridge, was an avid reader and collector of cookbooks. In addition, she was a member of the Amherst Garden Club. Mrs. Robinson was a communicant of St. John Neumann Church, Merrimack. She was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Ellen Robinson. Family members include her husband, Howard B. Robinson, Jr. of Amherst; a daughter, Gretchen Robinson of Amherst; two grandchildren, Tyrell N. Torres and Gabriella M. Torres; a brother, Norville Wathen and his wife, Cindy of Louisville, KY; three sisters in-law and a brother-in-law, Elaine and Donald Hornbeck of Pelham, NH, Ruth Martakos of Wakefield, MA and Diane Robinson of Ludlow, MA; several nieces and nephews. Calling hours are on Tuesday, December 3rd from 5:00-8:00 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 am in St. John Neumann Church, 708 Milford Road, Route 101A, Merrimack, NH. Burial will follow in Meadowview Cemetery, Amherst. Donations in her memory may be made to Home Health & Hospice Care, Community Hospice House, 7 Executive Park Drive, Merrimack, NH 03054.
