Kerry W. Sienkiewicz

Kerry, 73, passed away peacefully at home on February 18, 2022 with his wife, Nancy, by his side. He had never been a fan of obituary’s and unfortunately had to write one for his sister. It was beautiful and heartfelt and quite nontraditional so hopefully this one will be also. Now, Kerry is reunited with long loved friend and colleague, Mr. St. John, who together, spent 30 years at Elm Street Jr. High teaching Earth Science. They created a unique classroom that allowed the students to participate and learn in a variety of methods, hopefully helping to build their confidence as well as their critical skills. A favorite and often used response to a question in the classroom was, “What Do You Think?”…..as many of you reading this may recall…. because it’s didn’t matter what the correct answer might be, but the importance of trying to think it through and arrive at one. Kerry also taught in his earlier years in Fryeburg, Maine, and at Nashua High South for a couple of years before retiring. Now, Kerry has once again set sail for Bimini in the Bahamas with dear friend Martin, with whom he shared the journey from Portsmouth, NH to the Bahamas. They purchased a 25’ sloop, named it the Al B. Tros and proceeded to sail it without not knowing how to sail. they lived on board for over a year, fished from the ocean and hunted for salvage and treasure. They returned to NH and later Kerry sailed, solo, back to Bimini and stayed another year before returning home. Years later, Kerry joined his cousin in Tortola, BVI and helped him learn to sail his 50’ charter boat. And now, Kerry, along with his sister, Nancy, can resume digging, hoping to find that special rock, gem or mineral. They shared many amazing summers together volunteering as guides for the Poland Mining Camps in Maine. They enjoyed traveling around the country and Mexico making friends who shared in their passion. Kerry also journeyed to Sri Lanka and Brazil in his quest for adventure. Kerry is predeceased by his parents, John and Marilyn Sienkiewicz of Nashua, and his sister Nancy Lee Sienkiewicz of Fryeburg, Maine. He is survived by his wife, Nancy (Blower) Sienkiewicz of Milford, NH, with whom he spent 37 very special happy years. He was educated in Nashua, Tilton, UNH and Antioch University. He loved an adventure and made sure to make an ordinary trip, into one. His appreciation for geology, science and nature and for finding little treasures along the way, will always be his essence. Maybe the next time you see a glimmer from a rock glistening in the sunlight, you’ll think of him. Kerry reaches out to thank each and every one of you, through his journey, connected with him and enriched his life. He fondly remembers his students and faculty friends he made while teaching and hopes he made a small difference in their education. The family would like to thank the extraordinary caregivers from Amedisys Hospice and Home Instead. They gently cared for him and gracefully eased him to his final journey.
