Kenneth Edward Hall, 80, of Ormond-by-the-Sea, FL passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 11, 2016. Known affectionately as “Grumps” by his grandchildren, Ken was born on May 4, 1936 in Braintree MA to Alexander Hall and Bertha (Dugau) Hall. Following graduation from Braintree High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy from 1954-1958 as Electronic Technician Second Class. He met and married his former wife, Emily (Ruane) Hall while employed by Raytheon in Bedford, MA and earned his electrical engineering degree from Newton Junior College in 1965. Ken was later employed by Sperry Rand, Varian Associates, and Sanders Associates. Ken & Emily raised their family of five children in Lyndeborough, NH where Ken had a strong sense of community and served both as a selectman and volunteer fireman and even found time to run a gentleman farm and later build his own log home. In 1996, Ken retired to Ormond-by-the-Sea, FL and was an active member & officer of the Daytona Beach Shores Fraternal Order of Eagles #4469. He enjoyed cruises and planning his annual trek to the northeast and other regions of the country to visit family and friends. Ken is survived by his partner of many years Roberta Trask of Ormond-by-the-Sea, FL, his five children and their spouses: Marcia (Hall) Thompson of Morgantown PA, Edward & Wendy (Carey) Hall of Goffstown NH, Christopher & Pamela (Hall) Tierney of Bedford NH, Chuck & Valerie (Hall) McCarthy of Merrimack NH, and Joseph & Karla (Cheever) Hall of Nashua NH, many beloved grandchildren, and siblings Ruth Pokraka of Sunnyvale CA and James Hall of Kittery ME, as well as many in-laws, nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by siblings Agnes Neff of Olathe KS, Teresa Riggs of Millis MA, Katherine Fay of Largo FL, Allen Leo Hall of Rockland MA, and Rose Zahn of Braintree MA. Ken will be remembered as a loving father and a hard-working, conscientious and patriotic man and will be missed by many. Private services will be conducted by Smith & Heald in Milford NH, and a memorial service in Florida will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Stand Up To Cancer.
