Kathrine F. Shackley

Kathrine F. Shackley, 96, resident of Milford, NH, died June 15, 2011 at her home. She was born in Selma, Alabama on December 6, 1914, a daughter of William T. and Mary E. (Rowell) Robbins. Mrs. Shackley has been a resident of Milford since 2002 and formerly made her home in Arlington Heights, IL for 40 years. She graduated from Beatrice High School, Beatrice, AL and was valedictorian of her class. In addition, she earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and Journalism from the University of Alabama. For many years, she was a reference librarian at the Arlington Heights Memorial Library where she was instrumental in the establishment of their Genealogy Department, which was named after her. Mrs. Shackley was a member of the Household of Faith Church, Amherst, NH, a member of the American Genealogical Society and a member of the Antique Car Club. She was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling and gardening. She was predeceased by her husband, Frederic Shackley, II. Family members include her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Francis Watson of Milford. There are no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 17th, at 11:00 am in Riverside Cemetery, Nashua Street, Milford.
