Kathe A. West

Kathe A. West, 87, longtime resident of Wilton, NH, died June 29, 2009 at her home. She was born in Frankfurt/Oder, Germany on December 4, 1921, a daughter of the late Richard and Martha Bruning. Mrs. West was a member of the Tuesday rug hooking class for many years. She was an excellent cook and especially enjoyed making desserts to share with family and friends. She was a 50-year member of the Puritan-Charity-Themis-Atlantic Chapter #29, Order of Eastern Star. In addition, she was Grand Adah from 1970-1971 and a member of The Grand Chapter of New Hampshire Order of Eastern Star. Mrs. West was an active and longtime member of the Second Congregational Church, Wilton. She was a loving mother, a devoted grandmother and great grandmother. Mrs. West was predeceased by her husband, James L. West, who died in 1992; and a brother, Herbert Bruning. Family members include a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Paul Putnam of Wilton, NH; two grandsons, Kevin Putnam and his wife, Angela of Nashua, NH, Daniel Putnam and his wife, Robyn of Wilton, NH; three great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Kara and Matthew Putnam; two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Carol and Ronnie Glynn of Leominster, MA and Barbara Chambers of Danvers, MA; several nieces and nephews; a cousin, Joachim Galke of Germany; as well as many friends including her best friend, Sis Brochu of Peterborough, NH. Visiting hours are Thursday evening, July 2nd from 6-8 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 am in the Second Congregational Church, 25 Gregg Street (corner of Dale & Gregg Street), Wilton, NH. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Wilton.
