Katharyn Dunn, 91, resident of Brookline, NH, died at her home after a period of declining health on November 24, 2024.
She was born on May 24, 1933, in East Liverpool, OH, a daughter of the late Joseph V. and Katharyn (Muessig) Hughes.
Katharyn was raised and educated in Wellsville, OH. She later met and married Bill Dunn and the two were married for 59 years until his death in 2014. They lived in Columbus, GA, and later Alliance, OH, where they raised their two children, Arlene and Gregory. After retiring in 1989, they moved to LaGrange, GA, where they enjoyed many years with a large social circle including Katharyn’s sister and her husband, and many social activities, particularly square dancing. After Bill’s death, Katharyn moved to Brookline, NH where she lived with her daughter and son-in-law.
Katharyn was a realtor, homemaker, and artist. She enjoyed cooking, reading, and knitting, and many of her crafts are still lovingly worn by family members even to this day. She was a fan of “Wheel of Fortune,” “Jeopardy,” “Dancing with the Stars,” and “American Ninja Warrior.” She loved her grandchildren, Paul, Jessica, Zachary, and Eric, and was enormously proud to display their pictures in her home and thoroughly enjoyed their visits. She was a doting Grandma and her grandchildren loved her for it.
She was predeceased in death by her parents and sister Peg Fulgham, brother Joseph V. Hughes, Jr., husband Bill Dunn, and grandson Zachary Dunn. She is survived by her two children and their spouses—Arlene and Greg d’Arbonne of Brookline, NH and Gregory and his wife Karen Dunn of Alliance, Ohio—grandchildren, and the many lives she touched through her dancing, crafting, and wonderful sense of humor.
