Judith Gervais (Moore) Pfeifer, 72, a retired Amherst, New Hampshire teacher passed away on August 25, 2017 from IPF (Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis). Born in Lowell, MA on January 8, 1945 to John and Margaret (Reynolds) Gervais. Judy resided in Amherst, NH and was the beloved wife of Melvin George Pfeifer. She graduated from Lowell High School, Class of 1962. After earning a BA degree from Rivier University in 1966, she taught in a number of school systems across the country arriving in Amherst in 1982 where she taught for 18 years. In 1991 she earned a Master’s in Education degree from Antioch University, and also became a certified real estate agent in the State of New Hampshire. Judy was an active member of St. Patrick’s Church in Milford, NH and was also affiliated with a number of Teacher and Retired Teachers Associations. She was an avid tennis player, and golfer who enjoyed most outdoor sports as well as reading, sewing, and socializing with friends. She was predeceased by her beloved son, Robert (Bobby) Moore; four brothers, John “Jack” Gervais, Phillip Gervais, Stephen Gervais and David Gervais; a sister-in-law, Miriam Gervais; a brother-in-law, David Reilly; and a step-son, Paul R. Pfeifer. Judy is survived by her loving husband, Melvin Pfeifer with whom she spent 23 wonderful years; her daughter, Patricia (Tricia) Burpee of Muscat, Oman; her step children, Timothy Pfeifer and his wife, Danna of Washougal, Washington, David Pfeifer and his wife, Annie of Nashua, NH, Julie Nardozzi and her husband, Tom of Manchester, NH, Melvin and Andrew Pfeifer of Manchester, NH; and two granddaughters, Robyn and MacKenzie Pfeifer of Washougal, Washington. Other family members include her brother, Robert Gervais and his wife, Ann of Lowell, MA; a sister, Janet Reilly of Peterborough, NH; sisters-in-law, Norma Gervais of Chelmsford, MA and Maureen Gervais of Lowell, MA; many nieces and nephews. Calling hours are on Wednesday, August 30th from 9:00-11:00am in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon in St. Patrick’s Church, 34 Amherst Street, Milford. Burial will follow in Meadowview Cemetery, Amherst. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Catholic Charities New Hampshire, 215 Myrtle Street, Manchester, NH 03104-4354.
