Joseph R. Fucarile, 95, resident of Ledgewood Bay Assisted Living in Milford, NH, died on May 13, 2021 in Manchester, NH. He was born in Woburn, MA on November 2, 1925, a son of Mariano and Mary (Alloi) Fucarile. He was raised and educated in Woburn, MA. Joseph made his home in Milford for the past 8 years and formerly resided in Peabody, MA for several years and Reading, MA for 50 years. Joe joined the Air National Guard in 1948 and served during the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and the Cold War. He was stationed in Iceland in 1952 and helped coordinate the radar site to protect the US in the event of a flare-up with Russia. In 1962 he was deployed to Germany, where he set up a Weapons Director Training Program. He represented his outfit at many NATO meetings while in Germany. Joe was most proud the day he became a Colonel in November 2020. He had been employed as Safety Director for Honeywell Corporation, where he developed a Safety and Health Training Program for engineers and managers to implement. He retired in 1985. Joseph was an avid hunter and a member of the Woburn Sportsmen's Association. He wrote many hunting articles about his adventures, several of which were included in Turkey Hunter Magazine and Field and Stream. While living at Ledgewood Bay in Milford, he was President of the Men’s Club, a member of the Cooking Club, and sung in the Ledgewood Singing Group. He was predeceased by his wife, Eleanor A. (Murphy) Fucarile, who died in 2014. Family members include his son, Joseph R. Fucarile, Jr. and his wife Faith of Chelmsford, MA; his daughter, Debra A. Lackey of Amherst, NH; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; his fiancée, Georgi; a sister-in-law, Eleanor Fucarile of Woburn, MA; many nieces and nephews. Joe loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren at many family functions. A calling hour will be held on Thursday, May 20th from 10:00-11:00am in St. Patrick’s Church, 34 Amherst Street, Milford, followed by a mass of Christian burial at 11:00am. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Winchester, MA.
