Joseph Anthony Micozzi of Milford New Hampshire died unexpectedly on June 8th at the age of 63 while doing one of his favorite activities: riding his bicycle. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 40 years Donna, his daughter Marisa and son Jack, their respective partners Mitchell and Allie, and his two dogs Macy and Mabel. His extended family included his beloved in laws, Paul and Barbara Klock of Little Falls, NY, Denise and Paul Murphy and their children Gus and Ellie of Quincy MA, Jim Douglas and his children Olivia and Tyler of Little Falls, and Darlene and Joe Budzich and their children Alice and Henry, Joe’s godson, of Buffalo NY. All will miss him dearly. Joe was born in Kingston NY in 1959 to Joseph and Gwen Micozzi. He spent most of his childhood biking, and famously managed to make it to the traffic jam that led to Woodstock in 1969. Joe graduated from John A. Coleman Catholic High School, Kingston NY. His education continued at SUNY Potsdam where he met the love of his life, Donna Lea. During his time spent at Potsdam he cultivated a large circle of lifelong friends, affectionately known as “The Animals”. This group took annual trips which strengthened their friendship throughout the years allowing their children to also experience their close bond. He completed his education earning a degree in computer science from SUNY Potsdam in 1981. He later received his master’s degree in software engineering from UMass Lowell. He was employed by several companies in the New England area during this career including IBM, Wang Laboratories, Digital Equipment Corporation, and Fidelity Investments. Joe was a loving husband, a dedicated father, committed soccer coach, avid skier and cyclist, and a loyal friend. Always one to give advice (whether prompted or not) his quick wit and sarcastic humor always lightened an event. His infamous “Dad” jokes were legendary with his children’s close circle of friends. Joe’s love language was food. Whether it was a holiday celebration, making Poteca, or meticulously tending to his garden, Joe was happiest in his kitchen. If you ever were having a tough time you could expect a jar of homemade pasta sauce to be at your door within the hour. Joe was famous for reading Strega Nona every Christmas to Marisa's students and making cannolis. New Hampshire become home to Joe while he and Donna raised their children. The families in their Milford neighborhood were a source of support and joy. Birthday parties, graduations, and everyday life made this state home. His New York roots however remained strong through the family farm in Central New York. Here he cultivated and grew black walnut trees end enjoyed time with his extended family and friends. Joe was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and Celtics. However, his love of NY was displayed by his devotion to THE New York Giants, which was reinforced by yearly road trips to see his beloved Giants with his dear friend Steve Michels. The Micozzi family will be having a funeral mass at St. Patrick's church in Milford at 10am on Friday, June 17th followed by a mourner’s meal at Hampshire Hills. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Nashua. In addition, the family asks to give your love ones a hug and to go on a ride for Bambino.
