John W. Greaney

John W. Greaney, 75, resident of Amherst, NH, died November 29, 2010 at the Community Hospice House, Merrimack, NH, surrounded by his family. He was born in Portland, Maine, son of the late Robert M. and Simone (Richards) Greaney. Mr. Greaney attended Cheverus High School in Portland, Maine and Boston College in Chestnut Hill, MA. He made his home in Amherst and prior to that lived in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. Mr. Greaney had a very successful career in the defense industry and retired from Sanders Associates in Nashua. He loved traveling and golfing. In addition, he enjoyed walking the Amherst Green every day and spending time at the Amherst Library. Mr. Greaney was predeceased by a brother, Robert Greaney and a sister, Constance Kilroy. He was a loving husband, a devoted father and grandfather. Family members include his wife of 56 years, Kathryn Greaney of Amherst; two daughters, Sharon G. Manville of Amherst, Kathryn L. Greaney of Redondo Beach, CA; two sons, John K. Greaney of Henniker, NH and Christopher S. Greaney and his wife, Andrea of Scottsdale, AZ; four grandchildren, Elizabeth K. Manville, Samantha, Zackary and Scott Greaney; a sister, Patricia Oransky of Fort Lauderdale, FL; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be private.
