John S. Gaspar of Milford, NH, died after an illness on March 30, 2021, at the age of 80. John was born in Somerville, MA, on May 17, 1940, the son of the late G. Haskell and Doris L. (Short) Gaspar. He graduated from Somerville High School, Class of 1958. He then entered the U.S. Army and served in the Panama Canal Zone. John moved to Milford, NH, in 1962. He worked with Milford Police for four years and Hendrix Wire & Cable Company for 17 years. He also founded The Fire Barn. John was a longtime member of the Milford Fire Department, and a Life member of the Firemen's Relief Association, Hillsborough County Forest Fire Warden's Association and Box 52 Association. He is survived by his wife, Nancy E. (Knowles) Gaspar, and children Cindy Doucet of Temperance, MI, Stephen Gaspar of Milford, NH, and Susan McEneaney of Weymouth, MA; grandchildren, Samantha and Eric Doucet, Branden and Shane Gaspar, and James P. and Daniel McEneaney; great-grandchildren, Lincoln and Lindsey Ball and Allie and Claire Doucet; along with step-children Leanne Preihs, Kelly Hurd and William Hurd III, and step-grandchildren Morenci Preihs and Caden Merwin. John will be remembered by countless other lives he touched over the years. Memorial visiting hours will be held on Friday, April 9th from 1:00-3:00 p.m. in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford. Those attending are asked to adhere to current guidelines by wearing a mask and observing social distancing. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Milford Fireman's Relief Association, 39 School Street, Milford, NH or The Alzheimer's Association.
