John J. Green, 52, resident of Brookline, NH died on May 11, 2021 at his home. John met his wife Donna (Valerius) Green in 1988 while she was a student at Bay Path University in Longmeadow, Massachusetts as he was training for his Naval career at S1C in Windsor, Connecticut. They married in May 1997, and they would have celebrated their 24th wedding anniversary this year. He is also survived by a daughter, Taylor Green; and a son, Mason Green, both of Brookline; and a sister, MyLinda Heil of WI. He was born in Chicago, IL on December 22, 1968, a son of Gen (Moresi) Scanlan of Chicago and the late George Green. John attended Lane Tech Highschool in Chicago, Illinois where he played football throughout his high school career aspiring to play at the collegiate level, before he went on to find his passion for rugby at Kansas State University. This is where he obtained dual bachelor degrees in Nuclear and Chemical Engineering. John and his family made their home in Brookline for the past two years and formerly lived in Florida and Tennessee for many years. Over the course of his career he had worked for Fermi Nuclear Power Plant in Monroe MI, Los Alamos National Lab, ORNL in Oak Ridge, TN and WIPP, Carlsbad, NM as a nuclear engineer and additionally in project management as a contractor. John served in the U.S. Navy aboard the nuclear submarine USS Chicago and was honorably discharged in 2006. He enjoyed going to the gym, watching movies, and sharing his love for sports with his family in his free time. He was predeceased by a brother, Jason Green, who died in 2008. There are no services. There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
