John (Jack) Frederick Sweeney (born July 21, 1942) passed away quietly in his sleep on July 8, 2021. Jack Sweeney was born in Oswego New York and his early years were marked with many challenging circumstances. He graduated from Oswego High School, Mohawk Valley Community College, and Utica College. After MVCC he went to work for General Electric in Utica as a technician. He went onto become an engineer. He worked on the original radar system for the E-2C Hawkeye. He later oversaw the development of sonar systems for the navy and in his final years before retirement he was an Executive Vice President for Lockheed Martin in charge of Army missile guidance systems. On April 20, 1963, he married Dorothy Jane LeBaron. Jack and Dorothy were very much in love and had a happy marriage for 58 years until he passed away. Jack is survived by his beloved wife Dorothy, his three children, Christine Ann Sweeney, Shawn Patrick Sweeney, and Kelly Jane Sweeney; his daughter in law, Christine Campbell and his beloved grandchildren: Aimee Premo, Colleen Premo, Theresa Premo, Megan Browning, Ashly Prosser, Jonathon Sweeney, Shannon Sweeney, and Sarah House as well as multiple great-grandchildren. Jack Sweeney will be remembered as a happy, generous, thoughtful and considerate man by so many of the people his life touched. He was always ready to share a joke and help others in any they needed. Calling hours are on Thursday, July 15th from 4:00-6:00pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11:00am in Divine Mercy Parish, 12 Church Street, Peterborough, NH. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wilton, NH.
