John A. Hohenadel, Jr.

John A. Hohenadel, Jr., 75, resident of Milford, NH died on Thursday, August 22nd at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Mineola, NY on September 21, 1937, a son of John A. Hohenadel, Sr. and Lillian (Lacey) Hohenadel. John made his home in Milford for the past 42 years and formerly resided on Long Island, NY for many years. He earned his Associate’s Degree from the Community Technical College, Nashua, graduating Summa Cum Laude. John was employed for more than 30 years at Sanders Associates and BAE Systems, working as an electronics technician. He was a 62 year member of the Boy Scouts of America, and a charter member of the Purgatory Falls Fish & Game Club in Mont Vernon and a member of the Pinnacle Mountain Fish & Game Club, Lyndeborough. John loved the outdoors and volunteered as a hunter education instructor for over 40 years. In addition, he was instrumental in the restoration of wild turkeys in the State of New Hampshire. John was a veteran of the United States Navy having served from 1955-1959 and was honorably discharged from the Naval Reserve in 1961. He was a communicant of St. Patrick Church, Milford and a member of the Milford Council #3035 Knights of Columbus. Family members include his loving wife, Judith (Cave) Hohenadel of Milford, NH; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael and Shannon Hohenadel of Manchester, NH, Mark Hohenadel of Milford, NH; a daughter, Joanne Hohenadel of Malden, MA; four grandchildren, Emily, Faith, Sarah and Rachael; a sister, Marie Schin of Babylon, NY; and two nieces. Calling hours are on Monday, August 26th, from 5:00-8:00 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 27th in St. Patrick Church, 34 Amherst Street, Milford. Burial with military honors will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Milford. Donations in his memory may be made to Share Outreach, Inc., One Columbus Avenue, Milford, NH 03055, St. Joseph Home and Hospice Care, 24 North River Road, Milford, NH 03055 or to the charity of one’s choice.
