Joan M. Barrett

Joan M. Barrett, 80, resident of Milford, NH, died at the Community Hospice House, Merrimack, NH after a period of declining health on July 22, 2022. She was born on August 10, 1941 in Haverhill, MA a daughter of the late Everett and Dorothy (Severance) Milne. Joan was raised and educated in Milford, NH and graduated from Milford High School class of 1959. She married Edwin “Red” Barrett and together raised their family in Mont Vernon before his sudden death in 1975. She worked for many years at AirMar Technologies here in Milford. When she wasn’t working, she could be found volunteering at the Mont Vernon School, active in the community events around Mont Vernon and was the Treasurer of the Mont Vernon Home Circle and was active in the Mont Vernon Parent Teacher Association. In addition to her parents and her loving husband, Red, she was predeceased by her brother Samuel Milne of Milford. Survivors include Jon Barrett of Brecksville OH, James and Ana Barrett of Mont Vernon, NH, Suzanne and Peter Eastman of Trout Lake, MI, four grandchildren; Brendan, Ella, Julia, Grace, her sister; Alice True of Mont Vernon, NH and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. SERVICES: A calling hour will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH 03055. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in the Green Lawn Cemetery, Mont Vernon, NH after the chapel service.
