PETERBOROUGH– Jean W Sullivan, 92, a longtime resident of Wilton died on December 14, 2015 at RiverMead where she lived for the past seven years. Born April 7, 1923 in Framingham Massachusetts, Jean was the daughter of Lucille Gregg Wilson and John Henry Wilson. Jean was a graduate of the Dana Hall School and Mount Holyoke College. She also attended the Yale University School of Nursing School. In 1946 she married Charles B Sullivan who died in February of 2010. Jean was an avid baker, bicyclist and reader. For decades she was a volunteer at the Monadnock Community Hospital and was a benefactor of the Wilton Public and Gregg Free Library. Socially conscious, she was a lifelong advocate of civil rights and a strong opponent of homophobia. Jean was a member of the Unitarian Church in Wilton. Jean is survived by her daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Sullivan of Jaffrey, New Hampshire; her son, Wilson Sullivan and his wife Janet Hymowitz of Amherst, New Hampshire, her son, Peter Sullivan and his partner Felice Fullam of Wilton, New Hampshire as well as five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was also predeceased by her sons David B. Sullivan and Luther G. Sullivan. The family wishes to give special recognition to the staff at the Special Care Wing at RiverMead for their compassionate devotion and care given to Jean during the past seven years. According to Jean’s wishes, services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wilton Public and Gregg Free Library, P.O. Box 420, Wilton, NH 03086.
