Janet Kennett

Janet Kennett, formerly Janet Spellman, age 69, of Amherst, NH, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones, March 23, 2018, after a 17 month battle with cancer. Born Janet Carolyn Penney in Lowell, MA, she was an eternal optimist with a positive attitude and lived life to the fullest. She was hard working, sunny and loyal. She cherished her family and friends, and spent lots of her time in California with her grandchildren. Janet loved adventure, traveling the world, music concerts, dancing, being at the ocean, reading, continuing her education and ice cream. She was a champion at board games, dominos and cards. She was an avid tennis player throughout her life and also enjoyed kayaking, biking, zumba, tai chi and qigong. Janet graduated from Chelmsford High School and later earned a BA from New Hampshire College, while working full time and raising her daughters. She was a dedicated employee of the USPS for 35 years. She also volunteered as a family mediator and completed a first level certification in Reiki Healing. She is survived by her longtime loving companion, Bruce Fitzpatrick of North Attleborough, MA; her two daughters, Sheri Spellwoman of Richmond, CA and Tara Spellman of Novato, CA; her 4 granddaughters, Luna, Stella, Carmela and Reina; her parents, Stella (Pierro) and Graham Penney of Chelmsford, MA; her two brothers, Tom Penney of Littleton, MA, and Joe Penney of Dedham, MA; her sister, Karen Faria of Westford, MA; and numerous extended family members. Memorial visiting hours will be Friday, April 20th from 6:00-8:00pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH. A Life Celebration Service for Janet will be held Saturday, April 21st, 1pm at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at 20 Elm Street, Milford, NH.
