Jane S. Potter died peacefully surrounded by her family on December 29, 2014. Jane was born on March 19, 1934 in Spencer, MA to Grace Prouty and James Seymour. She raised her family in Milford where she had made her home for more than 30 years. Jane graduated from UNH in 1988 with a BA in Geology. She worked as an archeologist in Cultural Resource Management from 1985 until 1999. Jane continued her interest in archeology as a volunteer at Manchester Historic Association and New Hampshire Archeological Society. She was also a long-time volunteer at the Hooksett Public Library. Jane is a life member of the New Hampshire Archeological Society, past member of the NHAS Board of Directors and Newsletter Editor. Jane received the Chester Price Award in 1997 for her contribution to NH archeology. She was predeceased by one son, Nathaniel who died in 1980. She is survived by four children, Ann Potter and David Hays of Olympia, WA, Seth and Roberta Potter of Amherst, NH, James Potter and Laura Kellogg of Hampton, NH and Robert and Laura Potter of Durham, NH; nine grandchildren; one great grandson; a sister, Ann Rogers of Leominster, MA; two brothers, Allan Seymour and his wife, Sally of East Dummerston, VT and John Seymour of Saratoga Springs, NY. At Jane’s request, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manchester Historic Association, New Hampshire Archeological Society or the Hooksett Public Library.
