James W. Parratt

James W. Parratt, 79, resident of Lyndeborough, NH, died on April 7, 2013 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in London, England on January 20, 1934, a son of Joseph and Cecilia (Butler) Parratt. He was raised and educated in England and emigrated to the United States in 1977, making his home in Lyndeborough for the past 36 years. As a young man Jim played semi-pro English football. He was the proud owner of several motorcycles and travelled throughout Europe. Jim owned and operated J & F Auto Body in Lyndeborough for more than 30 years. He was an avid reader who enjoyed mysteries and World War II history. He was known for his great sense of humor and easy going ways. In addition, Jim was a soccer coach for Wilton Lyndeborough High School for many years. He was a veteran of the English Army. Jim was a loving husband, a devoted father and grandfather. He and his wife fostered many teenage boys over the years. Family members include his wife of 51 years, Fay V. (Townsend) Parratt of Lyndeborough; two daughters and a son-in-law, Christine and Shaun Howe of Peterborough, NH, Jane Hanlon of Milford, NH; three sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and Cathy Parratt of Petaluma, CA, Tho and Sarath Nguyen, Seng and Sophi Leoung, all of Milford, NH; nine grandsons, Tyler, Ryan, Dylan, Nicholas, Adam, Jake, Sean, Dominic and Alex; a granddaughter, Madison; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Vera Parratt of England, Hetty Greaves of Australia, Joan and Reg Wetherall of SC; several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours are on Wednesday, April 10th from 5:00-8:00 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford. Funeral services are private. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Wilton, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Home Healthcare Hospice & Community Services, P.O. Box 564, Keene, NH 03431.
