James E. Picard

James E. Picard, 93, longtime resident of Amherst, NH died on November 30, 2022 at the Hillsborough County Nursing Home, Goffstown, NH after a period of declining health.

He was born on September 12, 1929, in Franklin, NH, a son of the late Arthur and Beatrice (Hines) Picard.

James was raised and educated in Franklin, NH. He enlisted in the United States Army and faithfully served his country till he was Honorably discharged in 1953. James married Constance (Boilard) in October of 1954 and settled in Amherst to raise their family.

James attended the Votech in Manchester to get his sheet metal certificate. He then worked for Merrill's Sheet Metal in Nashua NH for 22 years. After leaving Merrill's he eventually worked as a sign maker for Barlow Signs of Hudson, NH until retirement. James was a faithful communicant of St. Patrick’s Parish of Milford. When he wasn’t working James enjoyed time spent gardening, camping and projects around the home. He was always ready to help out family & friends. One of his favorite hobbies was repairing cars with his brother-in-law, Danny.

In addition to his parents and sister, James was predeceased by his loving wife, Constance in 2019.

Survivors include his loving children, David and his wife Victoria Picard of Rosamond, CA, Michele and her husband Hal Holland of Florida, and Anthony and his wife Cheryl Picard of Milford, NH. He has three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

SERVICES: Calling hours are on Monday, December 12, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH 03055. A funeral service will follow the visiting hours at 12:00 PM in the funeral home Chapel. Burial will be at 2:00 PM in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH.
