James E. Coughlin

James E. Coughlin, 77, resident of Milford, NH, went to be with the Lord on June 15, 2009. He was born in Peterborough, NH on April 26, 1932, the oldest son of the late David and Sarah (Fannon) Coughlin. Jim was a resident of Milford for most of his life and graduated from Milford High School, Class of 1951. He received an Associate Degree in Machine Tool Processors from NH Vocational Technical College. He had been employed by Hitchiner Manufacturing Company, Milford and retired in 1997. Jim was a member of the Milford Volunteer Fire Department, a Eucharistic Minister at St. Patrick Church and longtime sexton of St. Patrick Cemetery. In addition, he was Past Grand Knight and 4th degree member of Milford Council #3035 Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed gardening and was a Ham Radio operator. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Jim was predeceased by a brother, David Coughlin. Family members include his wife of 52 years, Claudette (Vercontaire) Coughlin of Milford; three sons, James E. Coughlin, Jr. and Stephen Coughlin, both of Milford, William Coughlin of Nashua, NH; a daughter, Lisa Coughlin of Milford; three grandsons, Shaun, Kevin and Brian; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret & James Kantargis of Nashua, NH, Sally & Ronald Sims of Portsmouth, NH and a sister-in-law, Ingeborg Coughlin of Littleton, NH. Calling hours are Wednesday, June 17th from 4:00-7:00 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:30 am in St. Patrick Church, 34 Amherst Street, Milford. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Amherst, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Home Health & Hospice Care, 22 Prospect Street, Nashua, NH 03060.
