Lt. James E. Brackett (Ret.), 63, resident of Merrimack, NH, died July 27, 2012 in Mont Vernon, NH. He was born in Brookline, MA on April 13, 1949, a son of Thomas E. Brackett, Sr. and Helen Rosemary (Foley) Brackett. Jim was raised in Tewksbury, MA and graduated from St. Joseph’s High School, Lowell, MA. He received his Associates Degree in Theology from St. Joseph’s Seminary, Newburgh, NY. He made his home in Merrimack for the past 22 years and formerly lived in Nashua, NH. Jim retired from the Nashua Police Department in 1999 as a Lieutenant, after 24 years of dedicated and honorable service. He served with the International Police in Kosovo and also served as a law enforcement professional attached to the U.S. military in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Jim was a faithful communicant of St. Patrick’s Church, Milford. He was predeceased by a son, Padraig Brackett. Family members include his wife of 33 years, Martha E. (Anderson) Brackett of Merrimack, NH; two sons and daughters-in-law, Seamus and Megan Brackett of Washington, DC, Captain Sean Brackett (U.S. Army) and Marissa Brackett of Fort Bragg, NC; three daughters and sons-in-law, Kerin and Aaron Daigneault of Manchester, NH, Kelly and Jeffrey Gariepy of Durango, CO, Kaela Brackett of Merrimack, NH; two grandchildren, Ashlinn Brackett and Christian Daigneault; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Albert and Holly Brackett of Kingston, NH, Thomas E. Brackett, Jr. and Cathy Brackett of Tyngsboro, MA; six sisters and brothers-in-law, Joan and Bill Crawford of Wolfeboro, NH, Roseanna and Timothy Bolduc of Amherst, NH, Maureen and Edward Campbell of Mont Vernon, NH, Margaret and Michael Mahoney of Haverhill, MA, Maryanne and Joseph Reiss of Tyngsboro, MA, Gabrielle and Sean Dunphy of Deerfield, NH; many nieces and nephews. Calling hours are Tuesday, July 31st from 4:00-8:00 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11:00 am in St. Patrick’s Church, 34 Amherst Street, Milford. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery, Mont Vernon, NH.
