J. Omer E. Leith

J. Omer E. Leith, 75, resident of Milford, NH, died April 13, 2012 at Catholic Medical Center, Manchester, NH. He was born in Nashua, NH on October 30, 1936, a son of David and Ida (Nadeau) Leith. He was raised and educated in Nashua and made his home in Milford for the past 44 years. Prior to his retirement, Omer had been employed as a woodworker for Indian Head Mill Works in Nashua for 23 years. He was instrumental in establishing the Pop Warner Football Program in Milford. In addition, he was an avid sportsman, loved the ocean, the White Mountains and enjoyed vacationing in Weston, Maine. Mr. Leith attended Infant Jesus Church, Nashua. He served in the New Hampshire Army National Guard for nine years and was honorably discharged in 1962. Mr. Leith was a longtime member of Bent Burke Post #10 American Legion, Wilton. Family members include his wife of 47 years, Marlene J. (Starkweather) Leith of Milford, NH; a daughter and son-in-law, Melanie and David O’Bryant of Nashua, NH; four sons and daughters-in-law, Albert and Debbie Leith of Hancock, NH, Mark Leith, Gerald Leith, Dennis and Sandy Leith, all of Nashua, NH; three stepsons, Verne Starkweather and his wife, Mary Jane of Port Richey, FL, Stanley Martus of Wilton, NH; Gary Martus of Maine; a sister and brother-in-law Jeannette and Robert Gagnon of Nashua, NH; two sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Donna and Orin Simpson of Milford, NH, June and Paul Swanson of Colorado Springs, CO; many grandchildren; several great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. There are no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held in the chapel at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 D.W. Highway, Boscawen, NH on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Share Outreach, Inc., 1 Columbus Avenue, Milford, NH 03055.
