On September 3, 2018 our beloved mother Irma E. MacDonald passed away. She was an incredible Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend. Irma was born on September 18, 1933 in Woburn, MA, to Gordon & Mary (Scanlon) Cocks. The oldest of three children, she was raised in Woburn and Medford, MA along with her one brother, Gordon Cocks of Beverly, MA and one sister, Marcia Redden of Milford, NH. In her early 20’s Irma married Ronald MacDonald. After a few years and two children, Ron and Irma relocated to Southern California. They had eight more children after relocating to southern California. After moving back to New England in 1987, Irma made her home in Wilton, NH for the past 30 years. She worked at Tech Resources in Milford for more than 20 years in the production department. She loved her work there and was known for her meticulous step by step notes. Irma was a diehard Patriots fan. She loved Sunday football games cheering on Tom Brady and Coach Bill Belichick and how fitting to have her wake on the Patriots Game Day Opener. She also liked to heckle all her children and grandchildren that New England was the best team in the NFL. Although our family is heartbroken that she is no longer with us, we feel comfort in knowing she lived a good, happy, healthy life up until the very end. She was predeceased by her son, Gregory S. MacDonald; and three grandchildren, Shannon M. Burge, Megan N. MacDonald and Edward J. Flynn. In addition to her brother and sister, family members include nine children and their spouses, Ron & Grace MacDonald of Cypress, CA, Steve & Susan MacDonald of DesMoines, IA, Linda MacDonald Flynn of Milford, NH, Ken & Michelle MacDonald of Hughson, CA, Cindy MacDonald Alberti of Romeoville, IL, Debbie & Monty Burge of Wilton, NH, Keith & Sandy MacDonald of Spring Valley Lake, CA, Brian & Dawn MacDonald of Brookline, NH and Wendy & Frank Bauerschmidt of Milford, NH; 32 Grandchildren and 38 Great Grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. In life, Irma’s true loves were her ten children and all of her grandchildren. Irma leaves behind a legacy of strength, love and kindness. She never complained and was always very humble. Her beautiful smile was and will always be her trademark. Her smile will never be forgotten. Visiting hours are on Sunday, September 9th, from 1:00-4:00pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 1:00 pm in the Milford United Methodist Church, 327 North River Road, Milford. Burial will be on Tuesday in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford, MA.
