Irene T. Coombs

Irene Theresa (Montani) (Ciardelli) Coombs passed away at age 89 on Friday May 26th 2023 in Peterborough NH at her sons family home.

Irene was born on December 4th, 1933 in Quincy Massachusetts to Frank and Irene (Carella) Montani and was raised in Milford and Quincy MA by her father, Zia Alba and Uncle Tub Macci. Irene had two brothers, David and the late Albert Montani. Irene graduated from Quincy High School and attended business school shortly after. She married the late Albert (Chick) Ciardelli of Milford NH which is where they later raised their family and started the local business, Ciardelli fuel that is still thriving after 58 years. Irene later married the late George A. Coombs in 1990. Irene and George lived in Nashua NH for 8 years. Irene worked at Millers department store for 18 years where she took pride as a bridal consultant. Irene later retired in Milford NH where she resided.

Irene enjoyed playing cards with her friends and later enjoyed playing virtually. She spent her summers on Cape Cod with her brother and their families. Irene enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and took any chance she could to do so. She enjoyed sharing childhood stories about her and her brothers and then later about her children as they grew up.

Irene is survived by her four children, Frank A. Ciardelli and his wife Rebecca, Leslie J. Moore, Sandra Ciardelli, Karen I. Ciardelli, brother David Montani, and her 16 grand and great-grandchildren.

The services for Irene will be held at Saint Patrick’s Church, 34 Amherst Street, Milford on Wednesday June 7, 2023 at 11am. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Milford.

The family would appreciate donations to Keene Home Healthcare and Hospice in the name of Irene as well as florals in memory of her life.

Although Irene faced many hardships throughout her life her faith in God has never failed.
