Helen M. LaBrecque, 69, resident of Nashua, NH died on January 18, 2013, surrounded by her loving family at Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill, MA, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Boston, MA on June 14, 1943, daughter of John and Mary (MacFarland) Oakes. She had lived in Nashua for the past year and formerly made her home in Amherst, NH for more than 30 years. Helen was employed as an Administrative Assistant for Scarborough and Company followed by Alene Candles in Milford for over 25 years. She devoted her life to her family, her husband, three children and seven grandchildren with whom she thoroughly loved spending time with and watching them grow. She was an avid Boston Red Sox fan, loved traveling and especially enjoyed time at the ocean. Helen loved shopping, dining out, decorating and maintaining her beautiful home. She had a passion for life and an amazing energy and spirit. She was predeceased by her brother, John Oakes. She was a loving wife, a devoted mother and grandmother. Family members include her husband of 48 years, Paul A. LaBrecque, Jr. of Nashua, NH; her son Christopher LaBrecque and his wife Tracey, their children Carly and Scott, of Jaffrey, NH; her daughter Catherine LaBrecque and her wife Laurie Campbell, their children Arianna and Carlina, of Chelmsford, MA; her son Kevin LaBrecque and his wife Mindy, their children Nicole, William and Jameson, of Southport, ME; her sister, Mary Johnson and her husband, Robert, of Hull, MA; her brother, Thomas Oakes and his wife, Jean, of Abington, MA; her sister-in-law, Helen Oakes, of Bridgewater, MA; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours are on Tuesday, January 22nd from 4:00pm-8:00 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 am in St. Patrick’s Church, 34 Amherst Street, Milford. Burial will be in Meadowview Cemetery, Amherst, in the spring. Donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701 and earmarked for colon cancer research.
