Harold E. Corron

Harold E. Corron, 93, died at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, N.H. on Nov. 14th, 2020, after declining health. He was born July 12, 1927 in Altona, N.Y. to Earl Corron and Beatrice (Bell) Corron. He was married to his beloved wife Margaret (Daniels) Corron for 42 years. Harold was very proud to have served in the United States Navy, aboard the USS Dayton from 1944 – 1946 as a cook and baker and was given the nickname of “cookie” that always stayed with him. The love of family was first and foremost, and the thread that kept him together. He enjoyed family traditions especially around the holidays. Anytime was a great time to be with his family, cook-outs, camping, traveling, and snowmobiling. Harold enjoyed life to the max. In his younger years, hunting and fishing were his pastimes with his stepfather. He had a great appreciation for music of all genres and was always on the hunt for another album or cd to add to his collection. He loved the game of baseball and a fan of the N.Y. Yankees. At the age of 75, he experienced his first game at Yankee Stadium for a subway game and was elated when his favorite team won. He had a love of storytelling. We use to say to him, “you should write a book with all you have to say.” We will cherish those memorable moments in his life that he shared with us. He loved the adventure of travel. He would have his bags packed, before you made the reservations. Las Vegas, Maine and New York were his favorite places to visit. A dog lover at heart, he enjoyed the companionship of his family pets, Skippy, Nipper, Buffy, Simon and Corky. Woodworking was a great source of relaxation for him. Many winters we would find him in his workshop, starting or finishing a project. He especially enjoyed making lawn ornaments, only to the surprise that someone else had to paint them. He had a great sense of humor and was quick witted. We will remember him with many a smile on his face. Summertime was a fun time for our Dad. Mowing the grass, planting his gardens, flower and vegetable, swimming in his pool or just sitting on the porch enjoying the warmth of the sun and the sights and sounds of the birds he fed throughout the year. He leaves behind, the commitment and love of family, the hope for tomorrow, the faith in God, and charity to others. He is predeceased by his wife, Margaret (Daniels) Corron; his mother, Beatrice Rushford; his stepfather, William Rushford; his sisters, Eulala Drollette, Belva Forkey, Shirley Caldwell; and a grandson, Brendon Corron. He is survived by his four children, Bonnie and Russell Lesniak of Milford, N.H., Beatrice and Joseph Sommers of Lunenburg, M.A., Rick and Maureen Corron of Milford, N.H. and William and Sue Corron of Milford, N.H.; eight grandchildren, Cory, Joshua, Ashley, Rick, Todd, Brianna, Liane and Zeth; eleven great-grandchildren, Evan, Isabel, Noah, Jayden, Arianna, Brooks, Grace, Aamiyah, Dominick, London and Alexis; his longtime companion, Janet Gavin; many nieces and nephews. We wish to extend our gratitude to all the staff members at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, SNH Hospital in Nashua, N.H. and the dedication of Drs. M. Kaploe and S. Schwartz and their staff, and a special thank you to Tracy Monbleau for all the special care she gave to our father. Due to current public health and safety concerns, funeral services will be limited to immediate family members and held privately. Burial will be held in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Plattsburgh, N.Y., at a later date.
