Gloria (Drinkwine) Swett

Gloria (Drinkwine) Swett died in Nashua, NH on October 3rd, five days after her 92nd birthday and following a long illness. She was born September 28, 1920 in Hudson, MA, eldest child of Louis and Florida (Deloge) Drinkwine. Gloria was the widow of Fred Swett, who died in October 2001. They were married for 59 years. Gloria was also predeceased by her parents and her brother, Louis P. Drinkwine, Jr. and an infant sister Lorraine, and several in-laws on her husband’s side of the family. Gloria attended St. Michael’s Academy in Hudson, MA, graduating in a class of 14 girls, and then from the former South Middlesex Secretarial School in Framingham, MA, where she met Fred, in 1939. She spent much of her career working as a medical secretary in medical offices or as an executive secretary working at Sylvania Electric in Waltham, MA. Gloria and Fred raised their family in Framingham before moving for periods of time to Wells, ME, St. Petersburg, FL, Dover, NH, and finally to the Milford area. For the last four years, Gloria has been lovingly cared for by the wonderful staff at the Pillsbury Home in Milford, NH. She loved being close to her family, who meant everything to her and she to them. Gloria was a very kind person who cared deeply about the feelings of others. Gloria is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Jeremy and Charlene Swett of Grafton, MA and daughter and son-in-law, Hilary and Bob Keating of Nashua. She is also survived by her 3 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, Morgan and Jennifer Keating of Milford, NH and their children Jordan, Taylor, Austin, Gavin and Ella, Matthew and Gwendolynne Swett of W. Chester, PA and their children Colin, Henry, Nicholas, and Liam, and Pamela Swett and Matthew Leighninger of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada and their children Jack, Nathaniel, and Paul. Gloria is also survived by sister-in-law Claire Drinkwine of Arlington, MA. Visiting hours are on Monday, October 8th from 6:00-8:00 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00 am in St. Patrick Church, 34 Amherst Street, Milford. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Milford. Donations may be made in Gloria’s memory to Pillsbury Home, 95 High Street, Milford, NH 03055.
