Gloria A. Allwarden, daughter of Michael and Anna Aurichio, age 91, passed away peacefully at her home in Amherst on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, surrounded by her husband of over 69 years, Joseph C. Allwarden, also age 91, and other family members. Besides her husband, Gloria is survived by her sister, Helen Lagatutta, of Rye, NY; her five children, Christopher Allwarden and his wife Ania of Amherst, Kathy Girten and her husband Gary of Richmond, Indiana, Anne Young and her husband Paul of Portsmouth, Robert Allwarden of Jaffrey, and Joseph Allwarden and his wife Christine of Stratham; as well as 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Gloria, or "Glo" as she was known to her friends and family, suffered a decline in her health in recent years, and was sustained in life by the love and devoted care and comfort of her husband Joe. Residents of the Amherst area for over 45 years, Glo and Joe began their life together in New York City, later residing in Michigan and upstate New York, then living on Long Island before moving to New Hampshire in 1975. Gloria was a devoted wife and mother, known for her love of life and music, her family, and Italian cooking in particular. A private family service will be held on Wednesday, November 10 at Smith and Heald Funeral Home in Milford, with burial at Amherst's Meadowview Cemetery. A celebration of her life is to be held in the future. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the scholarship already established in her honor, the “Gloria and Joseph Allwarden and Lillian and Antonio Cruz-Uribe Scholarship” at Indiana University East. https://www.iue.edu/alumni-friends/ways-to-give/index.html#gift-online
