Gilbert E. Marshall

Gilbert E. “Gil” Marshall, 81, longtime resident of Milford, NH, died November 25, 2012 at the Milford Medical Center, Milford. He was born in Hartford, CT on March 10, 1931, a son of J. Edward “Eddie” and Effie O. (Chick) Marshall. Gil had been employed as a mechanic for Townsend Ford and Fitchburg Ford for many years. He owned and operated Gil’s Cycle Shop in Milford which he started in 1961. The name was changed to Gil’s Yamaha, as it was the first Yamaha dealership in the State of New Hampshire and later it became Gil’s Parts & Service, Inc. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. Gil was a member of Pinnacle Mountain Fish and Game Club in Lyndeborough, the Benevolent Lodge No. 7 F & AM, Scottish Rite 32nd Degree and the Bektash Temple Shrine. In addition, he was the founder of Gil’s Valley Riders M/C. He was predeceased by a daughter, Cindy L. Anderson who died May 15, 2012; and two granddaughters, Angel Wilson and Cassandra Wilson. Family members include his wife of 64 years, Dorothy (Hall) Marshall of Milford; a son, Glen A. Marshall of Milford; a daughter, JoAnn Thompson of Keene, NH; six grandchildren, Jonathan Marshall, Sarah, Matthew and Joleen Thompson, Sean P. Quinn and Morgan Anderson; three great granddaughters; a sister, Jean Felton of FL; several nieces and nephews. Memorial visiting hours will be held on Sunday, December 2nd from 2:00-4:00 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford. A masonic service will be conducted at 3:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. Joseph Community Services, Inc., Meals on Wheels Program, 395 D.W. Highway, P.O. Box 910, Merrimack, NH 03054, Share Outreach, Inc., 1 Columbus Avenue, Milford, NH 03055 or to the charity of one’s choice.
