George G. Bankeroff

George G. Bankeroff, 72, resident of Amherst, NH, died November 8, 2011 at his home. He was born in Roseville, Michigan on September 11, 1939, a son of George and Pearl (Snooks) Bankeroff. George was raised and educated in Roseville, Michigan and graduated from Michigan State, where he was an Evans Scholar. He resided in Amherst for the past 4 years and formerly lived in Hollis, NH for 20 years. George worked as a software engineer and as a software engineering manager for more than 40 years and had been employed by Honeywell, Digital Corporation, Cabletron and HP. He was an avid chess player and also enjoyed playing poker, duplicate bridge and was a member of the American Contract Bridge League. In his younger years, he liked to hike and ski. Family members include his wife, Barbara F. (Colombo) Romano Bankeroff of Amherst, NH; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Nancy Bankeroff of Excelsior, MN; two daughters and a son-in-law, Linda and David Iacobucci of Ocean Township, NJ; Laura Bankeroff of Potomac, MD; two stepchildren, Robert and Kathleen Romano of Amherst, NH, Ann and Kelly Rose of Nashua, NH; 11 Grandchildren; a brother, Ronald Bankeroff of Michigan; a sister, Linda Lehmann of Las Vegas, NV; several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 12th at 2:00 pm in St. James United Methodist Church, 646 Daniel Webster Highway, Merrimack, NH. Burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
