Genevieve Sue Eldridge

Genevieve Sue (Morgan) Eldridge, 89, of Amherst, NH died Saturday, March 21, 2020 at home following an extended illness. Genevieve, who went by Sue, was born in Lyman, OK on October 22, 1930 to Carrol G. and Genevieve A. (Armstrong) Morgan. She was a graduate of Bentonville, AR High School. Following graduation she spent two years working for the Arabian-American Oil Company in Saudi Arabia. She returned home to marry her husband, James M. Eldridge in 1952. During his career they lived in Burlington, NC, Chicago, IL and Little Rock, AR. Following his retirement, they moved to Springdale, AR. In the last eight years they moved to Kansas City, MO and Amherst, NH to be closer to their children. Sue was a homemaker until their youngest child was a mid-teen and was active in her church working with children which brought her much joy through Sunday School, Girls in Action and children’s church. She then began teaching kindergarten at her church in Little Rock for the next fifteen years. She led by example and remained in close friendship to the many children she taught throughout her life. Sue had a beautiful voice and loved singing and music, singing the lead in an operetta in her early years. She loved Christmas and worship music especially, often tapping her foot when she could no longer sing in the last two years of her life. She was an active participant in women’s Bible study groups and enjoyed singing with a senior adult choir that visited nursing homes. Sue was a member of Merrimack Valley Baptist Church in Merrimack, NH. Born with a natural creative talent, Sue enjoyed sewing, quilting and crocheting and often giving away those "treasured gifts” to her family and friends. She was an avid reader and loved her family and grandchildren dearly. Sue was predeceased by her brother Carrol Morgan. Family members include her husband of 67 years, James Eldridge, her daughter and son-in-law, Genevieve and David Moore, Magnolia, DE; daughter, Susan Eldridge, Amherst, NH and son, James Eldridge, Jr. and wife Kimberly, Lyndeborough, NH; eight grandchildren, Erin Wright, Katye Moore, Gloriana Moore, James Eldridge and wife Maria, Daniel Eldridge and wife Storm, Matthew Eldridge and wife Sara, Abigail Eldridge and Katherine Eldridge; four great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Audrey, Alex and Atlas.
