Gail D. Pinkerton of Springfield, MA, an amazingly smart, artistic, funny, faithful, steadfast, loving, adventurous lady with bull-dog strength and servants heart passed on to heaven on Thursday, February 20th at the age of 78.
She was the eldest daughter of Raymond Pinkerton and Margaret (Pompilio) Pinkerton of Springfield, MA. She graduated Suma Cum Laude from Classical (Bulldog) High in 1965. She was “a lifelong scholar” who earned an Associate Degree in Graphic Arts from Springfield Community College.
Gail worked a while at Chase House of Décor doing perspective drawings of interior design. She also worked at G.E. Credit Corp as 2nd Mortgage Loan Assistant to the Manager.
Later she returned to college at Westfield State University and graduated Cum Laude in 1986, with a BSA in Psychology.
Gail loved acting and got many lead parts in dramatic plays during high school. She volunteered at Baystate Hospital while in high school filling in for whatever was needed. She was a Girl Scout and also volunteered at the Shriner’s Hospital in Springfield. She loved traveling, skiing, roller coasters and loved laughter with friends and family celebrations, which were often.
She was highly civic minded and active in many neighborhood council meetings, trying to keep East Springfield safe. She was awarded Canaan’s Baptist Church Community Service Award for their appreciation for “Outstanding, conscientious and caring service rendered faithfully to their church and their community.”
Gail was a devoted friend and family member. She leaves her sister, Joan Warren of Milford, NH; a nephew, David Warren and his devoted wife, Antje; a grandniece, Freya; and a grandnephew, Finnley Warren of Hillsborough, NH. She also leaves many cousins who were more like sisters and brothers in MA and CT.
Her wishes do not include “no flowers’, but she has a heart for any donations to be given to “Operation Smiles” for children born with cleft pallet, or to Samaritan’s Purse.
She will be sorely missed, but we look forward to partying with her in heaven later. She will be the one with the “biggest laugh.”
