Frances Curran Harrow, 66, of Amherst, died on April 30th, 2015, at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, surrounded by her family. Born in Needham, Massachusetts, Fran grew up in Atlanta, Georgia. She and her husband of 39 years, Jeff Harrow, raised their daughter Kierstn and son Jaimie in Amherst. Fran was an active member of her community, serving as a member of the Amherst Junior Women’s Club, the Amherst PTA, and as a member of the Board of Andy’s Playhouse in Wilton Center. Fran earned her BA at Merrimack College, and her nursing degree and a Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Georgia State University, and her Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies (CAGS) from Rivier University. A nurse and a school psychologist, Fran worked at the Village Pre-School, Brookside Hospital in Nashua, and at Timberlane High School in Plaistow. Fran worked as the school psychologist at Wilkins School in Amherst. Fran was most proud to be a founding member of Souhegan High School, serving as the school nurse and health teacher. She served on Souhegan’s Finance Committee, and as a member of the Souhegan School Board for many years. Fran was committed to ensuring that all the students of Amherst and Mont Vernon participate in a vibrant, creative, and challenging academic community, surrounded by caring and dedicated adults. Fran was an artist who designed stained glass and jewelry and a friend who enjoyed her book group, her dinner group, and supporting her children’s interests. Fran and Jeff enjoyed travel opportunities to Australia and New Zealand, Japan, Hawaii, The British Isles, Europe, and Alaska. Fran adored her three grandchildren, Mary, Ella, and Anna, and visited them in Atlanta as often as possible. Fran is survived by her husband Jeff, her sister, Marianne Fronek of Atlanta, her daughter and son-in-law Kierstn and Jeff Hollifield of Atlanta, Georgia, and her son Jaimie of Oakland, California. Visiting hours are on Sunday, May 3rd from 3:00-6:00 p.m. in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Theresa Novak Chabot with Rev. Maureen Frescott at the Congregational Church of Amherst, 11 Church Street, Amherst, NH on Monday, May 4th at 10:00 a.m., with a reception following in the church hall. Internment will take place in Georgia. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Home Health & Hospice Care, Community Hospice House, Attn: Development, 7 Executive Park Drive, Merrimack, NH 03054.
