Frances B. Lake

Frances (Browning) Lake died peacefully in her sleep on June 19, 2013, at the home of her niece in Weare, NH. Prior to her declining health, she resided at Pearl Manor, Manchester NH. She was born in Waltham MA February 1, 1924, the daughter of Isabelle F. (Smith) and George U. Browning formerly of Lincoln, MA. She graduated from Concord MA High School in 1942 and St. Luke’s Hospital of Nursing in New York City, Class of 1945. Prior to living in New Hampshire, Frances made her home of 45 years at 11 Spring Garden Ave., Shelter Island Heights, NY. She is pre-deceased by her husband of 28 years, Edwin Gardner Lake, who died in 1994; a sister Charlotte Willets who died in 1994; 2 brothers, William Browning, who died in 1996 and George U. Browning Jr. who died in 1998. She is survived by her brother Robert Browning and his wife Carol of Wilmington, DE. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will miss her very much. Services: There are no calling hours. A graveside family service will be held at a later date in Lincoln, MA. At the request of the family, memorial donations may be made to the Shelter Island Heights Fire Department, Shelter Island, NY 11965.
