Eugene F. Monahan, 77, resident of Milford, NH, died February 11, 2009 at his home. He was born in Melrose, MA on January 19, 1932, a son of the late Henry & Annie E. (Doucette) Monahan. Mr. Monahan resided in Milford for the past 24 years and formerly lived in Nashua, NH for 12 years. He was employed as a high-rise glazier in Boston, MA for more than 40 years. Mr. Monahan was Chief Steward at Hinde & Dauch, Watertown, MA. He was a foster father to more than 35 children for the DCYF Program in Nashua. Mr. Monahan enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping with his family in the earlier years. Later he enjoyed spending time at the beach and Camp Pickle in Vermont. He was an accomplished woodworker and very proficient in leatherwork. He had a terrific sense of humor and an extraordinary ability to interject levity into many life experiences. Mr. Monahan was a loving husband, a devoted father and grandfather. He was predeceased by two brothers, Charles E. Kirby and Richard W. Monahan. Family members include his wife of 47 years, Isabelle (Brill) Monahan of Milford, NH; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael E. & Michelle Monahan of Nashua, NH, Sean P. & Carrie Monahan of Milford, NH; two daughters and a son-in-law, Stacey L. Monahan, Shannon C. & Michael McGown, all of Milford; two grandchildren, Camden K. Cook and Jack T. Monahan; a brother, Kenneth T. Monahan of Kingston, MA; a sister, Patricia Coviello of Reading, MA; many nieces and nephews. Memorial visiting hours are Monday, February 16th from 1:00-3:00 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, followed by a memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Souhegan Home & Hospice Care, 24 North River Road, Milford, NH 03055.
