Emily J. Hall, 82, resident of Morgantown, PA and formerly of Lyndeborough and Wilton, NH, died on March 28, 2023 at Zerbe Sisters Retirement Community in Narvon, PA where she had resided for a short period.
She was born in Newton, MA on June 18, 1940, the daughter of Harry and Isabelle (McCullough) Ruane. Emily was primarily raised and educated in West Newton, MA and graduated from Newton High School and Lasell Junior College, Auburndale, MA.
She resided in the Wilton/Lyndeborough area for more than 40 years and had been employed at Camp Calumet Lutheran of Milford & Ossipee, NH, the Cabinet Press in Milford, NH, H2Owear, Inc in Wilton, NH, to name a few, and she started, owned & operated Secretarial Solutions of Wilton, NH. She moved to Arizona in 2008 where she established her jewelry-making business, Desert Designs by Emily, and made her home until 2021 when she moved to Pennsylvania and lived with her daughter.
She was a woman of many talents. Over the course of her adult life she raised five children, baked, canned, sewed, knit, crocheted, braided rugs, led Girl Scout troops, milked goats, gardened, played guitar in a church folk group, made jewelry, and more. But most of all she was fun-loving, with a caring heart and wonderful sense of humor, and she was loved by many.
She was predeceased by her former spouse Kenneth E. Hall, and brother Col. Douglas A. Ruane.
She is survived by her five children and their spouses: Marcia (Hall) Thompson of Morgantown PA, Edward & Wendy (Carey) Hall of Goffstown NH, Christopher & Pamela (Hall) Tierney of Bedford NH, Chuck & Valerie (Hall) McCarthy of Merrimack NH, and Joseph & Karla (Cheever) Hall of Nashua NH; 13 Grandchildren: Brentton Asbury, Erin (Tierney) Stewart, Jordan (Tierney) Littlewood, Madison Turner, Lexah Hall, Autumn Tierney, Elisabeth Carroll, Jacob Turner, Natalia Hall, Sarah Carroll, Dylan McCarthy, Paige McCarthy, Emily Hall; one Great Grandchild: Violet Stewart; longtime partner Ronald Gildea of Crestone, CO, and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
There will be no visiting hours. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, June 29 at 3pm in St. Patrick Church, 34 Amherst Street, Milford, NH, followed by a reception in celebration of Emily at a nearby venue. Please contact an immediate family member for details if you only plan to attend the reception. Private burial will be in South Cemetery, Lyndeborough, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
