Ellsworth H. “Bill” Forbes, 97, resident of Wilton, died on June 18, 2014 at Bel-Air Nursing Home in Goffstown, NH, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Clarksville, NH on June 4, 1917, the son of Hosea T. and Julia (Chappell) Forbes. He was raised and educated in Pittsburg, NH. Bill was an active member of his community serving two terms as a Selectman, and as a Police Officer and Road Agent in Clarksville, NH. He made his home in Amherst, NH for more than 40 years where he owned and operated Amherst Auto. He later moved to Wilton where he resided for more than 10 years. Bill was a member of the Kiwanis Club. He enjoyed getting together with friends for coffee for over 50 years and was a member of The ROMEO Club. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served during World War II in the 25th Infantry Division in the Pacific. Bill was predeceased by his wife, Cleo R. (Cross) Forbes, who died in 2013. Family members include three daughters, Ann S. Forbes of Weare, NH, Brenda L. Stitham of Wilton, NH and Judith White of Milford, NH; five grandchildren, Zachary Stitham, Jeremiah Stitham, Dale White, Keith White and Betty Parsons; many great grandchildren and several nephews. There are no visiting hours. A private graveside service with military honors will be held in Riverside Cemetery, Milford.
