Eleanor M. Jenkins

Eleanor M. Jenkins, 93, resident of Peterborough, NH died on February 20, 2014 at Pheasant Wood Nursing Home in Peterborough. She was born in Lynn, MA on February 2, 1921, a daughter of James K. and Bertha (Hanscom) Darres. She had lived in Peterborough for several years and formerly made in home in the Milford, Wilton and Mont Vernon area for most of her life. Mrs. Jenkins had been employed as a cook at the Crouch School in Mont Vernon for many years. She loved to travel, read, crochet and work on crossword puzzles. Mrs. Jenkins was a member and Past Noble Grand of Custos Morum Rebekah Lodge #23, Milford, a member and Past President of Harley Sanford Post #4368 VFW Auxiliary, Milford, where she had served two terms. She was a member of The First Congregational Church of Milford, UCC. Mrs. Jenkins was predeceased by her husband, Philip H. Jenkins, who died in 2004. Family members include two daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah V. and Dennis Adams of Milford, NH, Donna V. and James W. Patterson of Wilton, NH; three grandchildren; Scott E. Adams of Nashua, NH, James W. Patterson Jr, of NJ and Melissa Geary of Lyndeborough, NH; six great grandchildren, Caden, Gavin, Kylie, Cody, Katelyn and Lauren. There are no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held in the spring in Green Lawn Cemetery, Mont Vernon. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Harley Sanford Post #4368 VFW Auxiliary, 1 VFW Way, Milford, NH 03055.
